It has been 7 years since the arrest of Al-Wefaq Secretary-General Sheikh Ali Salman. The whole country continues to suffer and remember his nationalist stances and great sacrifices. You cannot forget the name of the most prominent political leader who adopted peace, change, reform, and hardwork.

As the Prime Minister of Israel inaugurated his country's embassy in the Bahraini capital, Manama, mass demonstrations were staged to denounce the Bahraini government's position towards the Palestinian cause and normalization with the usurping entity.

In the 1990s, during the Al-Karama (dignity) uprising, sentences against political prisoners were issued by the committee in Al-Qalaa or by the state security apparatus. They weren't sentences in a judicial or legal sense. The sentences or decisions, or call it what you will, were secretly written in the prisoners' files.

On the afternoon of April 17, there were frequent complaints about the sudden crackdown by a security group on the detainees who have been protesting in Buildings 12 and 13 since the death of the victim of deliberate medical negligence, Abbas Malallah, and the repercussions of the incident are still taking place until the moment of writing this article.

The political experience in many Middle Eastern countries, including the Gulf states, is still growing towards maturity or is still far from the idea upon which democracy was built in developed countries, as individual or family rule is prevalent and there is no place for political partnership in governance.

Ten years following the eruption of the peaceful uprising in Bahrain, the European Parliament offers a chance to resolve the crisis and the opposition is adopting it, but will the authorities in Manama take this opportunity? Perhaps there are other questions, but the major question remains: Will the international community be able to make real sustainable change? This is the most significant issue worthy of attention at the moment by both the authorities and the opposition.

The Corrective Justice Law for Children No. 4 of 2021, ratified by the King of Bahrain aims at giving top priority to the child's interests in all rulings, decisions and procedures concerning them, regardless of the authority that issues or executes them.

Any ruling system which is either based on a solid foundation, a firm ground of a strong positive relationship or an authentic collective connection with its people or nation is embraced by its people. When the ruling system's heart, tongue, hands and eyes are used to protect its nation, its nation protects it as well.

On June 9, Bahrain allowed HR activist Nabeel Rajab to serve the remainder of his prison sentence at home with his family. Nabeel had been in jail since 2016 on spurious speech charges. Though released he remains silenced, knowing any remarks about Human rights in Bahrain could land him back in prison.

On March 16, 2020, the Head of Public Security in Bahrain, Tariq al-Hassan, appeared during the press conference of the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus, and said, "Certain buildings inside prisons were designated for isolation or quarantine in anticipation of any case, and we assure you that sterilization operations are continuing in all detention centers..."

The recent amendments made to Bahrain's Criminal Procedure Code which the government proposed to the legislative authority to pass was not a shock to me. All Bahrainis, including me, have become used to these shocks by the government, which every now and then issues or amends a law that limits or restricts freedoms and rights.

The form of hate speech and negative stereotyping in the authorities' media coverage against the opposition have been one of the main means of the political conflict in the uprising that has been ongoing in Bahrain since 2011. Hate speech went through a late development of its mechanisms in some of its main platforms.

In so far as Bahrain is experiencing a public power-sharing dispute between the opposition and the ruling family, there is a rivalry, which may become a conflict among the ruling family, over the share of economic, political and security powers in the country, which adversely affects the overall internal situation.

Hundreds of prisoners of conscience in Bahrain have launched a hunger strike since August 18, 2019, protesting against the inhumane treatment which violates the most basic international standards for the treatment of prisoners.

On July 14, Al-Jazeera channel broadcast a new episode of its investigative program “What's Hidden is Worse” entitled “Players with Fire”, through which it highlighted two issues related to Bahrain. The first is the Bahraini authorities’ narrative that the protesters at the Pearl [Lualua] Roundabout in 2011 were armed, and the second is regarding the supposed cooperation between the Bahraini security authorities and citizens with jihadist ideology who have links with Al-Qaeda.

This is not surprising as the Bahraini authorities are accustomed to playing the “blood game” that they use every time they want to confront their opponents.
