Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Fourth High Criminal Court, presided over by judge Ali bin Khalifa Al-Dhahrani, with the membership of judges Hamad bin Salman and Sayed Mohammed Ezzat, and Naji Abdullah as secretariat, sentenced Bahrain's opposition leader and Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, Sheikh Ali Salman, to four years in prison.

Abdullah Al-Shamlawi, one of the defence lawyers of Sheikh Ali Salman, said that the court issued its verdict "although we were prevented from speaking and his lawyers were not allowed to defend him."

The court acquitted the opposition leader of the charge of "promoting the overthrow of the political system by force, threats and other illegal means. The court; however, convicted him of "publicly inciting others to disobey the law, approving of acts that constitute crimes, publicly inciting to the loathing and contempt of a sect of people, which will result in disrupting public disorder, and publicly insulting the Interior Ministry."

It is worth mention that the Bahraini authorities detained Sheikh Ali Salman since he was summoned for questioning, on December 28, 2014, and have refused to release him on bail.
