10 Gov’t. Entities to be Merged & Recurrent Expenditure to be Reduced

Bahrain Mirror: The Executive Committee, during its meeting that was chaired by the Bahraini Crown Prince, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, discussed a number of measures that contribute to maintaining the Kingdom's economic situation and the sustainability of its financial resources in a manner that protects the citizens' earnings, according to an official statement.

During the meeting, the Executive Committee announced that during the next cabinet meeting it will put forward a recommendation regarding the merging of ten government entities.

In addition, the Executive Committee announced the establishment of Government Task Forces assigned to reduce the recurrent expenditure as follows:

-A task force responsible for the reduction of costs related to the maintenance of government buildings, led by the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.

-A task force responsible for the reduction of travel expenses and transportation costs, led by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications.

-A task force responsible for the reduction of property rental costs, led by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

-A task force responsible for the reduction of costs related to advertisements, publications, subscriptions and stationery, led by the Ministry of Information Affairs and Shura Council and Representative Council Affairs.

-A task force responsible for auditing and reducing IT-related expenditure, led by the Chief Executive Officer of the E-government Authority.

- A task force responsible for efficient utilization of medications and medical equipment, led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health.

The Crown Prince directed the task forces to submit proposals and implementation mechanisms to reduce the recurrent expenditure and regularly raise reports about the workflow in the committee's meetings.
