Bahrain Mirror: The Middle East Eye Website reported on Tuesday (May 10, 2016) that Cherif Bassiouni, who chairs the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), said that the comments attributed to him by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) are "not accurate".
An email seen by MEE read that Bassiouni said that the comments attributed to him are "not accurate". "The English is wrong," he wrote in an email sent in the early hours of Tuesday. "I have asked them to correct it."
Bassiouni did not respond to a request from Middle East Eye to clarify his comments.
For its part, BNA said: "They were waiting to hear directly from Bassiouni about which quotes he would like changed," adding that a new report would be issued once he has provided his clarifications.
BNA further stated that the comments they published were direct translations of ones made at the event.
"The government has dealt with the events of 2011 through an integrated system of reforms and efficient actions that led to overcome the 2011 events," BNA quoted Bassiouni as saying.
