Court Rejects Appeal in Juffair Assembly Case, Upholds 5-Year Imprisonment

Bahrain Mirror: The Supreme Court of Appeal ruled the invalidity of the appeal, as it was presented after the legal time period, in a case of illegal assembly. The court ruled in favor of a 5 year imprisonment against the defendant.
The First High Criminal court had ruled on May 11, 2015, a 5-year prison verdict and 300 Dinar fine for compensation to damages caused in a case linked to burning Interior Ministry movable properties, possessing Molotov cocktails in Juffair.
The Public Prosecution had stated that on August 2, 2015, the defendant, along with other unknown individuals, deliberately set fire to objects for terror purposes. It claimed that this endangered people's lives and properties. The defendants were also accused of taking part in an illegal assembly of more than 5 individuals, in purpose of committing crimes and destabilize security, and of possessing flammable and explosive devices.
