Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini security authorities summoned the prominent human rights activist Abdulnabi Al-Ekri and journalist Faisal Hayyat for interrogation today (Sunday, September 10, 2017). The reasons behind the summons are still unknown.
Hayyat was requested to present before the Public Prosecution for interrogation on Sunday (September 10, 2017) at 9 AM, without knowing the reasons.
In the same context, the authorities ordered Al-Ekri to present before the prosecution tomorrow morning.
The prosecution is expected to issue travel bans on activists to prevent them from taking part in the UN Human Rights Council session that will be held this month in Geneva.
Last year, the authorities imposed wide travel ban on activists to prevent them from participating in Geneva sessions. This measure was criticized by the UN and US, the most important ally to the small Gulf kingdom.
