Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Since 2010, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has hoped that the leader of Haq Movement, Mr. Hasan Mushaima, would either submit to his rule or die of cancer in one of London's hospitals. His wish did not come true, as death is not in the hands of the King.

In a letter discussing the political situation in the country, sent from where he was receiving treatment in London in August 2010, Mushaima highlighted that the King ordered stopping the coverage of his treatment for lymphoma with which he was diagnosed in June of the same year.

Entitled, "My message to the ruler in Bahrain.. Stopping my treatment will not defeat me," Mushaima said: "I have said it before and I say it now; I am ready for imprisonment or martyrdom as I will never betray Allah, the martyrs or you."

"My message to the ruler in Bahrain (...) Where are the human values as well as the state of law and institutions that you have long boasted about?!"

The King is once again using the same tactics against Hasan Mushaima. He wants him to apologize publicly or else die in prison. The Jaw Central Prison administration has been denying Mushaima, 69, of his right to treatment. Mushaima is serving a life sentence for leading protests in the island kingdom.

The Mushaima's family revealed on Friday (January 5, 2018) that he "suffered a serious health relapse due to medical negligence." His family stressed that "the prison administration has been depriving him of cancer tests for over a year (...) His sugar levels increased because of the administration's refusal to dispense medication for him since more than a month and a half."

"We do not understand as a family the reason behind the insistence of the Jaw Prison administration or officials responsible for this," added his family. "However, our father, Mr. Hasan Mushaima, says that there is no explanation for this treatment other than being an act of slow killing."

The King ignored Mushaima's letter in 2010, in which Mushaima urged him to listen to the demands of the people. The King did not learn from this lesson: A man who is willing to die for the rights of his people will not back down simply because he was deprived of his right to treatment.
