Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Ministry of Labor and Social Development announced a decision obliging NGOs to refer to the Ministry regarding all offers submitted to them by foreign embassies and bodies.
The Ministry said that "the decision came in accordance with the Council of Ministers' decision mandating the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be the only body competent to receive offers from foreign embassies and missions."
The Ministry of Health had issued a decree prohibiting all employees from accepting scholarships, educational and training courses offered by any embassies operating in Bahrain.
The Bahraini government is seeking to impose further restrictions on benefiting from foreign embassy scholarships, as well as subject it to the supervision of official authorities to identify the beneficiaries.
