Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini High Court of Appeals decided to commute the penalty of a defendant, accused of assaulting a policeman, to six months in prison instead of one year. The Court indicated in its merits that it treated the accused with a measure of clemency within the limits of Article 72 of the Penal Code.

The First High Criminal Court had previously sentenced the defendant to one year in prison after he assaulted a policeman, who was on duty, as he pushed him and pulled the iron handcuffs from his hand, causing some injuries.

The authorities claim that the Dry Dock Prison detainee assaulted a policeman as he was being handcuffed. The inmate pushed him and when he placed the handcuffs in his hands, he grabbed them, causing the injuries described in the medical report.
