Bahraini Currency in Circulation outside CBB Reached 687.8 Mln in April

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini dinar currency in circulation in all its categories outside the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) increased by 4.66% last April on an annual basis, according to data issued by CBB, reported Al-Ayam newspaper. The value of currency in circulation by the end of April reached 687.8 million BD, versus 655.9 million BD in the same month in 2017.

On a monthly basis, total of paper bills and coins increased last month by 1.3%, noting they were 678.8 million BD last March.

The currency in circulation last April reached 667 million BD, versus 635.9 million BD in April 2017, with 4.6% growth.

The 20 BD currency was the most used last month with 536.1 BD, followed by the 10 BD currency with 76.6 million BD, then 5 BD currency with 22.4 million BD and 1BD currency with 23.8 million BD and the half BD currency that recorded 8.1 million BD.

As for the sum of coins, they reached 20.8 million at the end of last month; i.e. an increase of 3.8% versus 20 BD recorded in April 2017. Numbers reveal that the value of these coins increased 92.2% from 2017 (within 10 years) as it previously amounted to 10.3 million BD. Data indicates that currency in circulation in banks rose on an annual basis by 12%, as it reached 134.9 million BD versus 118.7 million BD during April 2017. It also increased on a monthly basis from 122.3 million BD last March to 134.9 million last April, with 9.3% increase. As for the currency in circulation outside the banks, it increased on an annual basis by 2.8%, as it reached 552.9 million BD in April compared to 537.2 million BD in April 2017. It, however, decreased by 0.06% compared to the end of March 2018 that recorded 556.5 million BD.
