Bahrain Reduces Days and Working Hours in Museums and Archaeological Sites to Cut Expenses
2019-04-02 - 7:32 am
Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain Authority for Cultures and Antiques chaired by member of the ruling family, Mai Al Khalifa, announced reducing the working days of museums and archaeological and heritage sites in Bahrain, starting Monday, April 1, 2019.
Bahrain National Museum will be closed every Tuesday, after it used to open throughout the year. The museum's working hours will be reduced from 10 am to 6 pm, after they were from 8 am to 8 pm.
These abrupt changes seem to come in the context of reducing expenses policy, which the Bahraini government says it has to resort to in order to achieve balance between revenues and expenses in the state budget.
However, the government said it is seeking to attract more tourists to the country to revive the tourism sector and the country's economy in general.
Arad Fort will be closed on Fridays, although it is one of the most suitable days for tourism events, being a weekly holiday.
Al-Khamis mosque and its visitors' center will be closed on Monday every week, and will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm the rest of the days.
