2020-01-29 - 7:00 am

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): US President Donald Trump announced the deal of the century aimed at ending the Palestinian issue, on Tuesday (January 28, 2020) at a press conference in the presence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid the absence of any representative of the Palestinian authority.

It was remarkable that the US President thanked Oman, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates "for the incredible work they've done, helping us with so much and sending their ambassadors to be with us today," in reference to the presence of ambassadors of the three countries at the press conference, which Palestinians and most Arabs and Muslims missed.

Trump did not mention much of the details of the deal, but stressed that Jerusalem would only be the capital of Israel. He said that this deal will more than double the Palestinian territory. He also noted that Israel would stop building settlements in the West Bank.

Trump also announced $50 billion investments in the Palestinian territories under his Arab-backed plan, saying it aims at creating one million jobs in 10 years and doubling the Palestinian national product.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech and welcomed the ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Oman and said that their presence "is not only an indication of the future but also the present," in an implicit reference to the growing diplomatic relations between the three Gulf states and Israel.

Netanyahu praised the importance of Trump's recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and other strategic areas to "protect itself", dubbing Trump "the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House."

Netanyahu expressed his willingness to negotiate with the Palestinians based on Trump's plan.
