Pompeo Arrives in Bahrain

Bahrain Mirror: U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in the Gulf state of Bahrain on Tuesday (August 25, 2020) as part of a Middle East tour following an accord between Israel and the United Arab Emirates to normalize relations.
The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs published photos for Pompeo's reception who was received by his counterpart Abdullatif Al-Zayani. A meeting is to be held between Pompeo and the Bahraini Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the State Department earlier said.
On August 13, 2020, the United States announced its success in brokering between Israel and the United Arab Emirates to normalize relations. Israel and the UAE said they were urging more Arab states to take a similar step. The Israeli intelligence minister had mentioned that Bahrain might follow the UAE's lead.
