One Day after Issuing "Zubarah and Bahrain Calendar", King Hamad Demands Controlling Social Media Outlets out of Respect for "Al-Ula Agreement"

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): After days of controversy caused by the public media and Bahraini officials, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa does not seem to be serious about controlling the media escalation against Qatar and respecting the Al-Ula agreement.

The king stressed on Monday (August 1, 2021) during a meeting with his son Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa on the importance of the recent Gulf summit agreement (Al-Ula Summit-January 2021), according to an official statement.

How can these statements be considered serious as they come one day after his diplomatic advisor interfered and said that Bahrain has rights to the Qatari city of Zubarah, and only one day after the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs issued a calendar based on the King's directives that includes the Qatari city of Zubarah in the Bahraini calendar.

Perhaps it is a comical one-sided intervention to ease the atmosphere with Qatar, because it comes just one day after the king celebrated the release of the "Bahrain and Zubarah" calendar.

During the meeting, the king asked for social media control, demanding that "media discourse delivered via various means, including social media outlets, be characterized with social principles and stay away from anything that affects the unity of purpose."

At a time when the king was making these statements, hashtag "Zubarah is Bahraini", which the "online lackeys" affiliated with the Royal Court were using, is still up on social media outlets, and the king's diplomatic affairs advisor Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa's statement on Zubarah still exists on his own account.

Two days ago, the former Foreign Minister wrote on his Twitter page that "Hawar is Bahraini and people of Bahrain have rights in Zubarah. These rights won't be lost."

It is a de-escalation not requested by Qatar, a move that lacks credibility as the Bahrain News Agency continues to publish congratulations from religious sheikhs who are members of the appointed Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, congratulating the king on issuing "Bahrain and Zubarah" calendar which includes the Qatari city of Zubarah in the Bahraini calendar. Qatar; however, won't ignore or tolerate such a move.
