Bahrain Mirror: The wife of prisoner of conscience Jasim Al-Barbouri announced on Saturday, May 11, 2024, her open hunger strike in solidarity with her husband and inmates in Jaw Central Prison, who "have abstained from food due to a reduction in meal quantity without justification, in addition to the prison administration preventing them from purchasing food from the canteen." Al-Barbouri's wife, in an audio recording, stated that "the prison administration is intentionally starving them."
"Can you imagine empty stomachs for four days, as if no one sees the prisoners' pain or hears their complaints!" she stressed.
She also addressed the Ministry of Interior, saying, "Is this how trust is preserved? What is the purpose of this disregard?" demanding the release of all political prisoners.
It is worth mentioning that Al-Barbouri is serving a 45-year and a half prison sentence over political reasons, with 35 years and a half remaining.
