The security authorities summoned Sheikh Mohammad Sanqour, preacher of Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Diraz, for investigation on Monday (May 22, 2023).

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society has monitored more than 120 human rights violations in Bahrain during April 2023. The society has documented the arrest of 16 citizens, 10 cases of human rights violations, 83 raids carried out by security forces and the deterioration of health condition of Abdulwahab Hussein.

Al-Wefaq Society documented 470 human rights violations practiced by the regime, from January 1 to March 31, 2023, including 283 house raids and 36 arbitrary arrests.

The largest opposition party in Bahrain, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, has welcomed the recent agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran to restore diplomatic relations and establish embassies within two months.

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society launched on Saturday, March 4, 2023, a report entitled "Restrictive Political Environment in Bahrain," in which it shed light on the political and human rights situation in Bahrain, with the approach of the IPU meetings convening in Bahrain from 11 to 15 March 2023 in Manama.

Al-Wefaq sent an open letter to the MPs participating in the Inter-Parliamentary Union which will be held in Bahrain, on March 11, 2023, in which it called on them to "tackle the reality of the stifling and unstable parliamentary, political and human rights environment in Bahrain."

The "Bahrain Forum for Human Rights" organized a human rights seminar entitled "Updates on Bahrain's human rights situation" with the participation of members of Al-Wefaq Society, media people, father of political detainee Mr. Ali Mhanna and mother of martyr Sami Mushaima.

The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society confirmed that the aim of the Interior Ministry's announcement of its reopening of prisons is "to arrest every citizen who thinks about expressing his opinion or demanding his rights."

Al-Wefaq issued a booklet for its detained Secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Salman, entitled "Monopoly of Power", in which it relied on Sheikh Salman's "Home Plea" which he wrote in prison on October 14, 2015, and diagnosed Bahrain's problem and ways to solve it.

Al-Wefaq Deputy Secretary-General, Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi, stressed that "the constitutional crisis in Bahrain started after the regime abrogated the National Action Charter, which created crises and collapses leading to the popular movement in 2011."

Commenting on the increasing demands of prisoners to improve the living conditions in Bahraini prisons, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society said that what political prisoners are being subjected to is a crime and constitutes a threat to the lives of political prisoners.

The arrest of opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman on December 28, 2014 was a political decision, as the ruling family believed that the apprehension of the last remaining figures of the opposition would lead to the complete liquidation of the opposition on the political level.

After the two ministers sat with the king, it was decided that Hamad bin Jassim would make a phone call, on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, to the Secretary-General of the Al-Wefaq Society, Sheikh Ali Salman, and this indeed took place. It was a public and completely open call, and made with the permission of the Manama authorities. This was later confirmed by Hamad bin Jassim during a television interview.

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society issued a statement in which it said that the "Bahraini regime conducted a sham election process amid political repression and flagrant human rights violations, while violations and harassment are expected to increase in the coming period."

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society condemned the terrorist blast that targeted safe people and left 6 killed and dozens injured in Istanbul on Sunday, November 13.

Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi, deputy Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the largest opposition group, pointed out that the participation rate in the elections did not exceed 35%, despite the official coercion and intimidation to force everyone to participate.

Sheikh Hussein Al-Daihi said that the regime has plunged Bahrain into unfair living conditions that have exhausted the people. There is no way out of them except through a serious political plan, not empty promises decorated by the media.

Al-Wefaq Deputy Secretary-General confirmed that the Bahraini opposition forces, as a whole, abroad, at home and behind bars, announced boycotting the parliamentary elections, because of the dictatorship of the regime and marginalization of the people.

Bahraini opposition leader and Al-Wefaq Secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Salman, sent a letter from his prison cell to his eminence Sheikh of Al-Azhar regarding the call he launched during "Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence".

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society issued a booklet containing 139 reasons to boycott the sham parliamentary election held by the regime, amid a suffocating constitutional, political and human rights crisis.
