Bahrain Mirror: The largest Friday prayer in the Imam Al-Sadiq mosque in Diraz was resumed after being prevented by the authorities following the citizenship revocation of the spiritual leader of Shia majority, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim.
Sheikh Ali Al-Sadadi will lead the Friday prayer starting (Friday, May 20, 2022), according to an official statement issued by the mosque.
Since June 2016, security authorities have banned Shia from performing their largest Friday prayers, imposed a siege on Diraz for several months, hometown of Sheikh Isa, before forcibly dispersing the sit-in in front of his house, leaving 5 martyrs.
Although Ayatollah Qassim left Bahrain for treatment in July 2018 and has not returned to the country since then, authorities have continued to prevent Friday prayers for years.
